Top 10 things to do in Long Island

Long Island is eighty miles end to end with one road, cliffs on the Atlantic side and shallow turquoise water on the other. These ten things to do are ranked, from one of the deepest blue holes known to a conch bar on the Queen's Highway.

natural wonder deans blue hole

Stella Maris and Cape Santa Maria are in the north, Deadman's Cay and Salt Pond in the centre, Clarence Town in the south, and the drive from one end to the other takes a good part of a day. Most of this list is reached by car with a final stretch of rough track or a local's directions.

The order starts with the two sights that bring people here, then spreads along the island so that each district has its reasons. Caves, plantation ruins and salt works need care or a guide, and the beaches need a check on the approach, which each item notes.
